Kushtia: A court has sentenced two people to life imprisonment in a drug case filed at Kushtia's Bheramara police station. In addition, each of them has been given one more year of rigorous imprisonment for non-payment of a fine of Tk 10,000.
Kushtia Additional District and Sessions Judge Tajul Islam pronounced the verdict in the absence of the accused on Sunday (August 29th) at noon.
The convicts are Alamgir, 18, son of Razzak of Mandalpara village in Kumarkhali and Ujjwal, 30, son of Kader Malitha of Majdiar village in Ishwardi upazila of Pabna district.
According to court sources, on January 15, 2016, police recovered 30 bottles of Phensidyl from Ujjwal and Alamgir in North Bhabanipur area of Bheramara. On the same day, the police filed a case against them at Bheramara police station under the Narcotics Control Act.
The trial began when the police filed a chargesheet after investigating the case. Following the testimony of seven witnesses in the case, the court on Sunday sentenced the two accused in the case to life imprisonment and a fine of Tk 10,000.
